New York Bridge Walks

Walking is a form of exercise. And walking across one of the many bridges that connect Manhattan to the other boroughs and New Jersey is really fun and healthy! When I was a little kid, I never imagine walking across the Brooklyn Bridge. Although the bridge has been constructed for many years now, the bridge is such an engineering masterpiece. At night, the bridge is lit up to highlight the fantastic Gothic structure. When you visit New York, I suggest you to join the thousands of New Yorkers who walk across this historic bridge every day. You can bike too.

Horseback Riding in Central Park, Manhattan

I can see some horses and buggies lined up around the perimeter of the Central Park. I have tried myself to take a relaxing ride, though costly, I have enjoyed a lot. I can say that Central Park really offers a gorgeous backdrop as you get the feeling of what it was like to travel through Manhattan in the 19th century. When you visit New York, try horse and buggy rides! It is fun!

Manhattan Culture

Neighborhood of Chelsea
This place is a popular haven for art because of its galleries and cultural events. It has more than 200 art galleries that are home to modern art from both upcoming and established artists.

Broadway Theatre
It is considered to be the highest professional form of theatre in the United States. It is one of the larger professional theatres with at least 500 seats, almost all in and around Times Square, where plays and musicals usually performed.

Lincoln Center
Lincoln Center is home to one of the world's most prestigious opera houses- the Metropolitan Opera.

For me, Manhattan has the most extensive art collections in the world including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Guggenheim Museum.

Manhattan, New York

Did you know that there are over 40 million American and foreign visitors come to New York City every year? I am one of those who become overwhelmed at the sheer amount of things to do and see in a limited time because there are just so many choices. I get the most out of our trip walking in Manhattan.

We all know that Manhattan is considered to be the major commercial, financial, and cultural center of the United States and the world. We can locate most major radio, television, and telecommunications companies, as well as many news, magazine, book, and other media publishers in the United States. We can also find many famous landmarks, tourist attractions, museums, and universities. Indeed, it is the home to the headquarters of the United Nations, the home to the largest number of corporate headquarters in the nation, and the center of New York City and the New York metropolitan region, holding the seat of city government, and the largest fraction of employment, business, and recreational activities.

Ground Zero

The place shown in the photo is where WTC (World Trade Center) is located, before September 11, 2001 when attacked by terrorists. Flight 11 and flight 175 were hijacked and flown into the twin towers.

The term Ground Zero is used to describe the point on the earth's surface where an explosion occurs. It may also refer o the point on the ground directly below an explosion. It describes the site of the World Trade Center in New York City, when it was destroyed by the attacks.

Little Italy: A Tourist Trap?

Well, they say that there is not much of Little Italy in Manhattan anymore. It was more or less a tourist trap and that it was not worth the detour. However, I was still curious to see the place. I still enjoyed shopping from several souvenir shops and dining to the restaurant. For those people who have seen Little Italy before, they were probably disappointed to see how small Little Italy has become. I have heard that most of the Italian families of old have now moved to different residential areas throughout the city.

I had Spaghetti and meatballs a la bolognesa, although it was not the best Italian meal I've ever had. I still say that Little Italy is quite good, not expensive, and the atmosphere of the place turned this into a really pleasant experience!

Little Italy in Manhattan

I captured this photo when I was in New York last month. The place is called Little Italy in Manhattan. It was called Little Italy because it was once occupied by large population of Italians. The place is right on Mulberry Street from Spring Street to Canal Street in Manhattan. I just love these streets because of many New York's best Italian restaurants and cafes.

I was just disappointed I never experienced the ten-day Feast of San Gennaro, usually takes place in Mulberry Street. During this celebration the shrines and relics of this saint are paraded through the streets. Many people will enjoy Italian foods of all types, rides, games, entertainment, and audience-participation singing and dancing.

Statue of Liberty Replicas

Did you know that there are hundreds of other Statues of Liberty erected worldwide? Yes, they exist in Austria, Germany, Italy, Japan, China, Brazil and Vietnam. Shown in the picture below is a replica of Statue of Liberty in Japan.

In 1950 in Columbia, Missouri, boy scouts of America have placed a small replica of the Statue of Liberty. The statue was dedicated as a pledge of everlasting fidelity and loyalty. There is also a statue that is almost entirely white as viewed from US-322 East and West going past the river in the middle of the Susquehanna River near Harrisburg, PA. Aside from that there is also a statue in Paris and several others elsewhere in France. Statue of Liberty replicas are also located in theme parks and resorts like New York-New York Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

Statue of Liberty: Liberty Enlightening the World

Last week, I had a 75- minute cruise sails from Pier 83 in Midtown out to Liberty Island for a close-up look at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island before returning to Pier 83 along the Manhattan Skyline. The guide was fantastic, entertaining, knowledgeable and perfect for the whole family.

The Statue of Liberty is one of the most universal symbols of political freedom and democracy. It is located on 12-acre Liberty Island. It was presented to the United States by the people of France in 1886 that welcome visitors, immigrants, and returning Americans. It commemorates the centennial of the signing of the United States Declaration of Independence. It is also a gesture of friendship from France to the United States.

Looking closely to the statue, you can see that it is a statue of a robed woman holding a torch. The statue is made of a sheeting of pure copper, hung on a framework of steel with the exception of the flame of the torch. It stands 151 ft or 46m atop a rectangular stonework pedestal with a foundation in the shape of an irregular eleven-pointed star.

Australia: A Dream Place

Australia is one of the places I want to live in because of its biggest attraction- its natural beauty. I like its landscape that varies from endless sun- baked horizons to dense tropical rainforest to chilly cold southern beaches. Its cities is scattered along the coasts, which is a blend of a European enthusiasm for an art and food with a laid- back love of sport and the outdoors. I hope to see the opera in Sydney one night and see the Crocodile Dundee.

Pagsanjan Falls

The famous Pagsanjan Falls is located in Brgy. Anglas, Cavinti, Laguna, which is a popular day-trip about 100 km SE of Manila near the town of Santa Cruz. Aside from the view of the falls itself, its main attraction is the raft ride. Skilled raft men will bring tourists aboard bamboo rafts by pulling on ropes laid across the lagoon for only Php70.00. It’s really nice to be at the far end to have a glimpse of another cascade on top of the Main Falls. Slow and meandering with homes and palms crowding the banks covers the lower part of the river. With a rainforest canopy, it does not take long before the river valley turns into a deep gorge and the quiet waters become cascading rapids.

In order to get there, take a ride via the South Luzon Expressway, from Manila. go around the cloverleaf to reach Calamba after you reached Canlubang Exit. Then from Calamba, follow the provincial road passing Los Banos, Bay, Victoria, Pila, Sta. Cruz and finally Pagsanjan. Going to the Pagsanjan Falls is by by boat paddled and pushed upstream by two boatmen.

The Chocolate Hills

Bohol's most famous tourist attraction probably is Chocolate Hills. The hills are an unusual geological formations look like giant mole hills, or as some say, women's breasts, and remind us of the hills in a small child's drawing. The hills are around 1,268 perfectly cone-shaped hills of about the same size, which are spread over an area covered in green grass that turns brown during the dry season. That is actually behind the name- Chocolate Hills. Some people hardly believe that these hills are not a man-made artifact. The hills symbolize the abundance of natural attraction in the province.

In order to get there, from Tagbilaran, you will have to go the integrated bus terminal in Dao and catch a bus going to Carmen. People will point you to the right bus at the entrance of the bus terminal. You have to ask the driver to drop you off at the Chocolate Hills complex, which is about 4 kilometers before the town of Carmen. And from that point it is a 10 minute walk along a road winding up to the complex. Now, how to get back to Tagbilaran? Simply you will have to walk back to the main road, and wait for a bus to pass by. There is also a few buses go to Carmen daily, if you're coming from Tubigon. As soon as you arrive in Carmen, catch the next bus or jeepney in the direction of Bilar, Loay or Tagbilaran, or ask a 'habal-habal' driver to bring you to the Chocolate Hills Complex.

Visit Pagudpud Ilocos

I have been in Pagudpud around 3x times already and I really enjoyed each trip. As a matter of fact a couple of people already asked me to give them travel tips for their upcoming vacation to Pagudpud and Ilocos Norte. Pagudpud is such a nice place for family vacation because of its white-sand beaches and crystal-blue water. Pagudpud is considered to be haven for tourists due to Maira-Ira Point with its secluded beach known as the Blue Lagoon. The place is accessible. Coconut trees line much of the town's coast. Indeed Batanes Islands are visible from Patapat National Park when it is clear day. Also from the town proper is Pasaleng Bay, which offers wide and pristine beaches backed by mountains with breathtaking waterfalls Kabigan and Mabaga, along with the many cool, refreshing springs waiting to be discovered within.
